Dukes drop tough one to SteepleCats

Dukes rally in ninth, fall 3-1

PITTSFIELD, MA (Wednesday, July 26, 2006) The Pittsfield Dukes lost a close game to local rival North Adams by the score of 3-1 at Wahconah Park on Wednesday night.

The Dukes (12-24) were stifled by SteepleCats starting pitcher Brandon Harmon, who went eight innings and allowed only one run on three hits. Matt Rogers picked up an RBI for the second straight game and went 1-3 on the night. The Dukes got two runners on in the ninth inning, but were unable to comeback.

Charly Bashara got the start for Pittsfield and pitched well. He went six innings and only allowed two earned runs and seven hits. Max Warren and Mitch Duggins pitched strong in relief for the Dukes.

The Dukes plated their lone run in the eighth inning. Grant Escue led off the inning with a double and came around to score on an RBI groundout. North Adams improved to 21-17 on the season.

The Dukes travel to Keene to take on the Swampbats at 7 p.m. Audio and video broadcasts of the game are available via the NECBL Broadcast Network on www.teamline.cc. Friday, July 28th is Fireworks Night when the Dukes take on the SteepleCats at 7 p.m.
