Dukes drop third straight, fall to Silkworms

Dukes unable to score against Manchester pitching, lose 10-0

PITTSFIELD, MA. (Friday, July 21, 2006) The Pittsfield Dukes lost their third straight game at Wahconah Park, dropping a 10-0 contest to the Silkworms on Friday night.

The Dukes (12-21) fell behind early, as Manchester picked up two runs in the third and two more in the third.  Their big inning came in the top of the sixth inning, when the Silkworms plated five runs off Dukes reliever Miles Whitlock.

Mike McCardell got the start for Pittsfield and went five innings allowing five runs on seven hits and struck out six batters on the night.  Christ Chapman and Grant Escue both pitched two scoreless innings in relief. 

The Dukes only picked up five hits on the night off Silkworm pitching, as they lost the ballgame 10-0.  Matt Rogers went 2-4 with a single and a double.
