Dukes drop second straight to North Adams
Pittsfield defeated by SteepleCats for second straight night

NORTH ADAMS, MA. (Friday, July 14, 2006) The Pittsfield Dukes dropped their second straight game to division-rival North Adams on Friday by the score of 8-3.

The Dukes (10-16) fell behind early and did not have an answer for SteepleCats starter Teddy Kaufman. They only scored one run on five hits and lost the contest, 8-3.

North Adams (17-10) is now 3-1 against the Dukes this season, winning all three games at Joe Wolfe Field. The SteepleCats scored three runs in the first, three more in the fourth and added two more in the seventh inning. Catcher Sean Parker had another big night at the plate, going 3-4 with two RBI. He went 7-9 in the series.

Dave Nykiel (2-1) was credited with the loss after going 5 innings and allowing six runs on seven hits. He struck out three and walked three. Chris Chapman and Santo Maertz came on in relief for the Dukes.

The Dukes first run came on a solo home run in the third inning. Dan Mellies and Matt Rogers both had RBI singles in the eighth inning. Pittsfield and North Adams combined for 36 runs and 54 hits in the two game series.

The Dukes next game is tomorrow, July 15th, when the Dukes host division-rival Newport at 7 p.m. There will be a fireworks display following the game presented by Greylock Federal Credit Union. The Dukes will take on Danbury on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Wahconah Park.
