Native
Bashara returns to pitch for the Dukes in 2007; Dukes land UMASS’s
Tempesta
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (Monday, March 26, 2007) – The Pittsfield Dukes
are excited to both, resign their native hurler Charly Bashara, and
sign key addition Adam Tempesta from the University of
Massachusetts.
Bashara, a 6’2 southpaw, has just begun his sophomore season for the
Northeastern Huskies. Recently, the Huskies returned from their
spring trip to Florida with a record of 4-4. One game, which won’t
be officially recorded, pitted the Huskies against our own Boston
Red Sox. Bashara, saw 1 inning of relief, facing Red Sox notables
J.D. Drew, Coco Crisp, and Doug Mirabelli. “Just being there was a
phenomenal experience,” said Bashara of the contest.
Early into his sophomore season, Bashara has worked six innings of
relief for the Huskies, striking out six batters while walking only
one. When asked about being recognized as the Dukes “hometown hero,”
Bashara said that he appreciates the additional support he receives
from Pittsfield fans. “It’s great to have friends in the crowd
cheering for me,” Bashara states. “I hope to bring the Dukes fans
plenty of excitement this summer.”
The Dukes new addition, Adam Tempesta, is a sophomore at the
University of Massachusetts. In his freshman season, Tempesta earned
a starting job as the Minuteman’s second baseman. In 44 games, the
freshman turned many heads batting .311 and scoring 30 runs, while
maintaining his half of the middle infield. Still early into his
2007 season, Tempesta has gathered three hits in as many games.
Both Bashara and Tempesta are young-hungry players. Look for them
both to impact a successful 2007 campaign for the Pittsfield Dukes.
The Dukes home opener is June 9th vs. the Keene Swamp Bats.
Season tickets for the Dukes are available now. Tickets can be

The Dukes appreciate your support. GO DUKES!!!
